A TOOTHBRUSH WITH SOFT BRISTLES RECOMMENDED BY DENTISTS
We met Nassim by sheer coincidence. Our conversations about ecology and respecting nature really struck a chord. His company Smiloh has the same philosophy as us.We both think that there is a growing need for respectful consumption and that we need to be more respectful of our planet.
Smiloh x Comme Avant
We decided to bring our two projects together and that’s how this pretty toothbrush was born.
The bamboo toothbrush is made with a biodegradable and compostable sleeve and is imported and completed by Nassim in Valenciennes (59) in the north of France.
Bamboo (bamboo grown in France is impossible to find) imported from Asia , more specifically from India. It is a natural bamboo strand.Grown in plots that are separated and isolated from the local natural fauna. This way, the bamboo doesn’t interfere with the local eco-systems and doesn’t participate in deforestation.
Nassim cultivates moso bamboo that pandas or other animals can’t eat. This bamboo grows without fertilizers or pesticides because it is naturally quick to grow. This kind of bamboo inhibits the growth of micro-organisms like viruses.
To compost the toothbrush sleeve, you need to take out the bristles out with pincers ( it's very easy)
A biodegradable and vegan toothbrush
The bristles of the toothbrush are Class 4 Nylon, pleasant and natural for your mouth. They do not contain bisphenol A, which is known to be harmful.
This is the best current alternative to animal hair.
The bristles are then infused in Natural charcoal. The charcoal allows to break the plaque and eliminate the toxins without harming your teeth or gums. It also gets rid of bad breath by absorbing the bacteria. It naturally manages to whiten your teeth.
The bristles are attached to the handle of the toothbrush without chemical glues. We instead chose to use small metal fasteners that aren’t harmful to people health.
A healthy alternative and a small step towards a healthier planet
This toothbrush has the same lifetime as classic plastic brush. All dentists advise changing toothbrush every three months or to change the bristles every three months.
Packaged in a small cardboard box (also biodegradable and compostable). This toothbrush is an alternative to throwing away millions of plastic toothbrushes.
Every time you purchase a toothbrush, we give a toothbrush away to a French, Indian or Peruvian NGO.This was something we thought was a good idea and was something we cared about deeply.
