A soap holder created by Stéphane Ouvry
Stéphane, 47 years old, opened his carpentry workshop on 1 February 2010. It is located in the Vosges, Rue des Provinces in Saint-Nabord, near Remiremont ' La flirtatious '.
Inspired by a desire to be creative and the pleasure of working with solid wood, grown in nature without human intervention, his craftsmanship involves solid, natural wood, a symbol of the earth that feeds and supports us.
Today, our small team has entrusted him with the task of creating our soap holder.
100% natural, made from solid maple wood.
With Stéphane, we chose maple wood to produce our soap holders because the wood is both hard and stable. This tannin-free wood won't stain the bathtub or washbasin on which it is placed.
Wood is a natural material which therefore experiences some variations in color and in the pattern of its grain. It is a living material, which means that it will absorb water and soap, emitting water only and, as such, regulates humidity in its own, humble way.
Its original color will evolve and change over time. However, it won't deteriorate or become damages.
No screws or adhesives - carved from solid wood
Stéphane works alone and with conventional tools, there is nothing mechanized or automated.
The maple for his soap-holders comes from the sawmills around his home, his dear Lorraine where he lives is a very wooded area.
With beautiful planks that he cuts to the chainsaw, he delines to the saw to obtain widths. Then he dégauchit and planed each piece to get beautiful parallelepipeds.
The router, the plane, and the bandsaw are used to give each piece its own shape and its final characteristics.
