A soap holder created and made by by Stéphane Ouvry
Stéphane is 47 years old and opened his carpentry workshop on the 1st of February 2010. It is located in the Vosges, Rue des Provinces in Saint-Nabord, near Remiremont - La Coquette.
Inspired by the desire to be creative and the pleasure of working with solid wood, grown without human intervention, his craftsmanship involves high quality, natural wood.
Today, our small team has entrusted him with the task of creating our soap holder.
100% natural, made from solid maple wood.
We decided with Stéphane, to choose maple wood to make our soap holders because this kind of wood is hard and stable. This tannin-free wood won't stain the bathtub or washbasin.
Wood is a natural and noble material. That’s why variations in color and texture can sometimes happen. It is a living material, meaning it will absorb water and soap, that way it can regulate humidity on its own.
Its original color will evolve and change over time. However, it won't deteriorate or become damaged.
No screws or adhesives - carved from solid wood
Stéphane works alone and with handheld tools, there is nothing mechanized or automated.
The maple for his soap-holders comes from the sawmills close to his home, in Lorraine where he lives in a very densely wooded area.
With beautiful planks that he cuts with a chainsaw, he then uses a special artisanal method to turn these elegant maple wood planks into handmade, hand carved soap holders that we are proud to sell.
